Don Nichols' Bio

About Don Nichols

Hi, I'm Don Nichols, graduating from a BSN program in Topeka, Kansas, December 1999.

My interest in nursing issues began when I started reading sci.med.nursing in 1996.

I have read Nursenet, and am currently subscribed to em-nsg-lst a listserve for Emergency Nurses.

I work as a student nurse tech in the Emergency Department of a local hospital and I love it there.

I have two dreams. After working in Long Term Care, I vow to return there after graduation and try to "clean up the mess". There are more problems than solutions right now and I will try to provide solutions. I also have a vision of a new kind of Nursing, Internet Nursing. The Internet community has unique needs and is ripe for intervention. I invite you to share my dreams.

I was involved with the Florence Project and coordinated a May Day Rally at the Capitol in Topeka, Kansas on May 1, 1998.

My continued involvement with the Nightingale Network demonstrates my strong commitment to Nursing and "speaking out" for patients' rights.

Please feel free to email me for discussion.

It is only through sharing our experiences and strengths that we can overcome the effects the violence has had on our professional and personal lives. It is through well-focused individual and collective interaction and action that healing and empowerment will come.

I invite all nurses who choose activism over apathy---empowerment over powerlessness---to join us in the

Nightingale Network
