I am currently working as a branch manager for a hospital based home care. It is part of a system that has it's own HMO Health Plan, clinic, home care, rehab, and hospital. This is the first time that I have worked for such a large institution, however with the state of home care it is the only viable option.

I could probably lose my job if it were known that I am actively participating in the forum. Additionally, I am aware that some forum members will feel that I am the "enemy". I love management and I am commited to high quality nursing care. This has cost me some jobs over the years but it has never cost me a night's rest. I believe in the Nightingale pledge that I keep on my office b-board. I also think it is important to include nurse managers in the Nnet. Nurses never stop being nurses.

I would like to participate because I believe that action is required and that this is a critical time in health care. I do not believe in just bitching without being a part of the solution.

On a more personal note, I am 46 yrs old, married with two "grown" children and have worked fulltime in nursing for the last 23 yrs. For me, it has always been a calling and I have also frequently felt it is like a bad marriage (a love-hate relationship) I live in Texas in a very rural area ( about 2 miles past the middle of nowhere) and drive 65 miles to be able to work in a urban environment.
